Historical Research Request Form

The South Carolina Department of Archives and History is the repository for the permanently valuable government records of the state of South Carolina and its political subdivisions. Our agency does not collect private manuscripts, newspapers or illustrative images. For these types of material we refer you to the following institutions: the South Caroliniana Library, and the South Carolina Historical Society. As general reference questions can involve considerable research time, please allow two to four weeks for a response.
