The name of the agency has undergone several name changes.  In 1997 the name was changed to the Dept. of Revenue.  From 1993 to 1997 it was named the Dept. of Revenue and Taxation, having been formed through the merger of the Tax Commission, the Division of Motor Vehicles, and the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission by the Government Restructuring Act of 1993.
