SUMMARY SCOPE NOTE:  This series consists of incomplete runs of six agency newsletters, the "Communicator," 1989-1990; "The Intercom," 1989-1993; "SCDC Employee Newsletter," 1992-1993; "The Sentry," 1994-2001; "Inside the South Carolina Department of Corrections," 2001, and "SCDC Rap Sheet," 2004-2009.  Articles in these publications deal with all aspects of the agency's operation, such as, reports of activities at various prison facilities, notable achievements by employees, updates on prison industries, and information on programs for improving inmate literacy.
