SUMMARY SCOPE NOTE:  This series consists of ledgers recording appropriations from the state legislature and detailing expenditures against those funds.  The 1938-1942 volume lists amount of appropriation, debits, and balance for three funds (treatment of venereal diseases, installation of toilets, and fire loss).  The 1944-1964 volumes records salaries (overall salaries, not individual salaries) and other expenses by categories, such as construction, fire loss, maintenance, etc.  Information includes amount of appropriation, debits for federal taxes, debits for the South Carolina retirement fund, and balance.  This series covers the years, 1938-1942 and 1944-1964.
