ARRANGEMENT:  The various separate items in the series are arranged chronologically.  The policy manual, ca. 1973, is arranged by numbered section.  The superseded policies are arranged by departmental division.

SUMMARY SCOPE NOTE:  This series consists of one notebook containing a policy and procedures manual of ca.  1973, two notebooks of superseded policies and procedures of the department, an employees handbook of May 1987, a 1991 employee orientation manual, and a 1994 newsletter from the Employee Assistance Program.  The superseded policies include policy number, date, responsible authority, purpose, policy, procedural guidelines, commissioner's signature, policy number replacing the superseded policy, and date superseded.  Policies cover a variety of issues such as agency administration and operation, security, inmates, personnel, programs, committees/councils, procurement, audits, research, etc.
