SUMMARY SCOPE NOTE: This series contains carbon copies of the  letters of notification of appointment of constabulary officers sent to the Secretary of State, letters of endorsement or recommendation from other law enforcement officers or members of legislative delegations, revocations, letters of resignation of the constables being succeeded, and the original applications for appointment which were removed from the Applications series when appointments were made.

In addition to appointments to the regular State Constabulary, the series also contains appointments of state constables serving without compensation from the state. The application form for constables serving without compensation contains the name, address, age, race, county of residence, occupation of the applicant, and a statement of his reasons for seeking the appointment.
